Ideas grow. The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh is one of the world's premier Institutes for Advanced Study, offering time, space and funding to world-class scholars at all career stages. Since 1969, we have supported innovative research and public engagement activities across the arts, humanities and social sciences through a range of interdisciplinary and international projects and programmes. We currently offer around 65 Fellowships every year to bring researchers from around the world to Edinburgh. About IASH The Institute Housed in a secluded 19th-century courtyard overlooking the Meadows in central Edinburgh, the Institute is adjacent to most centres of University activity. Our delightful building offers a range of private offices and suites to allow researchers to focus on their projects in peace and quiet. Events take place regularly in the ground-floor Conference Room and first-floor Seminar Room, in particular our weekly Work-in-Progress seminars where Fellows share their work. We also care for a number of libraries and special collections, including the Sprigge Philosophical Library.
